Tips for Boosting Your Effectiveness on Social Media by Krista Juline
How do you know when (and what) to post on social media? We all know social media is a great tool that can help us engage people and drive them to sign up for the awesome services you provide... but what’s the most effective way to do that? Is there any kind of a strategy?
While each campaign is different, here are a few helpful things to keep in mind when you’re planning your next event, product push or launch:
6 WEEKS OUT
Save The Date
Craft 1-2 sentences about your event/campaign. Target it to your audience and try to include some simple info like where and when it is. Do this early. It will help you think through important details.
Plan Your Shots

3 WEEKS OUT
Links. Links. Links.
Is this listed on your website? Does it need it’s own unique page or a small ad featured on one of the other pages of your site? Start setting this up now if you haven’t already.
What Should I Say?
Craft a few core messages – doesn’t have to be set in stone, but just something to keep you on track when you want to post throughout the next few weeks.
Who Are Your People?
Get influential followers involved. Have people in your network that can get excited about this? Send them a sneak peek email and ask them to get involved by liking and sharing the posts. Depending on how close you are, you could send a few sample posts and ask them to personalize and share it!
2 WEEKS OUT
Build Anticipation
Document your launch. Anytime you’re working on something to do with your campaign, be sure to share something. It could be one of those broad core messages you wrote, a video that gets people thinking or even a picture of you in action getting ready for the event. Anything to engage people in the conversation.
To Hashtag Or Not…
#Hashtags can be a great way to connect with the wider audience. Try something simple (i.e. #photoshoot to connect with other photographers) and something unique to you (i.e. #ourcrazypath highlighting some of the adventures you’ve taken).
1 WEEK OUT
Now Is Your Time To Shine!
Think of 5-6 unique posts that you can put out (at least once per day). Share pictures and don’t forget to link it back to your website. The goal is to get people talking and ready to go to your event!
BEFORE & AFTER
Follow Up
Celebrate! People always want to see the result of what you’ve been hammering about for the past few weeks. Post pictures at the event (during and after), a short video clip of someone saying how much they loved it, etc.
